Men's College Player Of The Week: Maciu Koroi, Life University

Life University has thumped its last two opponents by large margins, including a 69-5 drubbing of Arkansas State this past weekend, which can make it hard to single out any one Running Eagles player for accolades.

However, No. 8 Maciu Koroi has earned our Men's College Player of the Week award after drawing praise from Life's coaching staff for his unselfish and hard-working performance against the Red Wolves.

"We've been asking everyone to keep improving, and you can see that in what Mac is doing," LU head coach Colton Cariaga said. "Sometimes it's tough for an older guy to stay humble and realize he needs to change some things to get better, but that's exactly what he's done."

A junior, Koroi caught the eye of former Running Eagles coach Scott Lawrence while playing with the Sacramento Islanders U19 team. Koroi's strength and aggressiveness earned him a spot at Life, but it's been his all-around game that has put him in the starting lineup.

As Koroi hit rucks against Arkansas State, he followed the ball when needed and acted as a stand-off when that was the right move. He helped control play and worked to set up others for scoring glory. His control at the base of the scrum is a big asset to the Running Eagles.

He was also "pretty electric" on the attack, added Cariaga. And that put Koroi over the top for this week.
