There’s the little matter of a Mid-South game this weekend at Life, with Lindenwood taking on the Running Eagles LIVE on FloRugby.

Saturday's game in Marietta, Georgia, will go a long way to deciding who wins the Mid-South, as both teams are 2-0 and every other team in the conference has lost at least once.

Lindenwood is coming off a 24-5 defeat of Arkansas State, a team Life beat 69-5 the week before.

But before you judge those different scores, note that the Lindenwood-ASU game was played in frigid temperatures with an inch of water on the field.

“What we did really well was adjust to the conditions,” said Lindenwood head coach Josh Macy, whose team managed tries from prop Corey Harmann, No. 8 Wesley White, and flanker Michael de Waal but did not manage to get a bonus point for four tries.

“It was one of those games where the backs are going to be kick chasers and your forwards are going to do a lot of the heavy lifting. The guys understood that was what we were going to need.”

As the Lions forwards bashed it out, Nick Feakes whacked the ball down the field and the outside backs chased the ball down.

“We kept the ball in their half pretty well,” Macy said. “Something we have always done in the past is force something that’s not there.”

Wing Sam Chapman also adjusted well, making little half-breaks and then using his boot to pin Arkansas State back. The player of the game was de Waal, who displayed an outstanding work rate on the day.

“The game really suited him,” Macy said. “He’s a straight-ahead runner. He had a play where he made the tackle, won a turnover, and then got up and went around the corner, got the ball and scored. It was that kind of effort level that made him Man of the Match.”

Against Life, Macy knows his Lindenwood team has a tough job ahead of it.

“The Running Eagles are a really good team, but every team presents you with opportunities,” Macy said. “We just need to identify those opportunities.”
