FloRugby Watch Guide: Future Stars Everywhere
FloRugby Watch Guide: Future Stars Everywhere
A look at the live events on FloRugby October 6 and 7, 2018.
Everyone likes to win, but there are other goals within the Americas Pacific Challenge.
"We want to put at least two players on the November tour squad," said USA Selects head coach Scott Lawrence.
The Selects have been chosen with development in mind. Most of the players on the squad haven't been capped, or have been capped only a handful of times. You might look at Hanco Germishuys as a legitimate star ...
OK, he is, but he's also been capped less than ten times. He's still new. Most of the USA Selects lineup to face Tonga.
But Lawrence's goal is partly why we're seeing a lineup that is full of players with almost no international experience.
APC Kicks Off
Sprinkled in there are players with experience and leadership ability. Brendan Daly is at No. 8, Dylan Audsley at center, and Tim Maupin at wing. We know what we'll get out of them, but what will we see out of the front row of Chance Wenglewski, Alex Maughan, and John Hayden; what will we see out of lock Taylor Krumrei or Mike Kruse on the wing? That's the added value of these games.
By the way, this is a preview of Pool C of the 2019 Rugby World Cup, as the Eagles and the Sea Eagles will face off in a year and a week, October 13, 2019.

Meanwhile, Argentina XV has a hugely physical task ahead of it against Samoa A. The Argentinian team is very young and it there to break into the higher levels. The Samoan team is in a similar situation, but is somewhat older. Now qualified for the Rugby World Cup, Samoa needs all the game time it can find.

Canada A is not that far removed from a front-line Canada side, and Uruguay XV is the same. Canada needs preparation time for the Repechage tournament in November - the team's last shot at making RWC 2019. Uruguay has already qualified, but wants to show well at home.

French Mid-Terms
How did you do in your French mid-terms? We'll see how they did in the Top 14 after this weekend. Round 7 is the final week before a break for the European Championships. Here's where we are right now:
Clermont Auvergne is clear at the top at 5-1, but as many as seven teams are within striking distance. Only one, however, Stade Francais, could catch Clermont in points in one weekend.
One of those other seven is Toulouse, which sits 3-2-1 and in 8th place, but is only two games out of 1st and one game out of a playoff spot. The big news? American player David Ainuu will be on the bench for Toulouse against Agen, and that game is LIVE on FloRugby.
Ainuu played prop for the Liberty U19 team in Washington and played for Eagle Impact Rugby Academy, the HS All Americans, and the USA U20s. Fans can see this up-and-comer make him play LIVE on FloRugby.

Meanwhile, Stade Francais and Castres face off on Sunday in a game that's all about getting to the top. Stade has started in excellent form, but a tough 17-16 loss last week on FloRugby knocked the Parisien team down to 4-2.
