As we build towards the Autumn Internationals for the USA Men's 15s team, here's another update on how the depth chart looks, this time with the position of scrumhalf.

Right now, six players sit atop the heap, but you have to wonder if we'll see more join this list over the next year or so. Stephen Tomasin was on the depth chart for a while, but he has been concentrating on sevens. Same could be said of Madison Hughes. 

Meanwhile, at the collegiate level, we think you'll see Ryan Rees and Connor Buckley again, and we like Jackson Clark at Kutztown, too. There's some serious talent in the age grades, but that (Ruben de Haas's experience aside) is a little too far away to discuss now.

So, for now, here's our list:

Davies has claimed the top spot thanks to his tenacious play and speed of service. In addition, with Nate Augspurger's ability to play wing, his versatility has made it easier for Gary Gold to put Davies in at the #9 starter for now. 

Ruben de Haas, meanwhile, is in a professional setup and, like Davies and Augspurger, also a pretty good on-field and locker-room leader.

Same, really, goes for Boyer, Ferris, and Yungert. The USA has a wealth of intelligence, ability, and character in this position.

Notable in this group is that there's a significant home-grown aspect. Davies was born in South Africa but moved to the USA to play at BYU and has remained ever since. He was an All-American and has been an Eagle for seven years, now.

Augspurger played at Southside HS in Minnesota and then the University of Minnesota. De Haas developed his rugby for the Junior Stormers in Arkansas and was on the HS All Americans and Junior All Americans. Boyer was a USA U20 standout and an All American at Cal. Yungert was an All American at Saint Mary's. 

Only Ferris could you reasonably say was fully developed as a rugby player overseas, but he's still very young and has been part of the USA system for some years, now.
