The Eagles are preparing for the 2019 Rugby World Cup in different ways. While Blaine Scully pens a farewell letter to Cardiff fans, Titi Lamositele, Ruben de Haas, and Ben Landry go trophy hunting in three leagues. 

Bye Bye Blaine

In classy captain form, Blaine Scully bid farewell to the Cardiff Blues.  Scully penned a grateful letter to the fans making it clear that his focus had shifted to the 2019 Rugby World Cup.

Scully told FloRugby that he has no specific plans following the 2019 Rugby World Cup, saying he just wants to "focus on the Eagles and see where everything is at [after that].”

Developing De Haas

Ruben de Haas didn’t see many minutes with the Free State Cheetahs this Pro14 season, but he may have his breakthrough opportunity. The Cheetahs are participating in a domestic competition called the Super Sport Rugby Challenge that spans April to June. Many of the Pro14 players will rest during this talent while the younger players get their chance to step up.

De Haas helped the Cheetahs to a victory over the Sharks and even scored a try in the first match of the tournament.

For a moment it looked like Bryce Campbell and Ben Landry were set to square off in the 2019 RFU Championship Cup Final. Unfortunately for American rugby fans Campbell wasn’t selected for the London Irish squad.

However, Ben Landry came off the bench for the Trailfinders in the 71st minute to help secure the 23-17 victory. 

Titi Lamositele started for the Saracens in their Champions Cup Semifinal victory over Munster just two weeks ago. 


This week he was left off the roster completely for the exhibition match against Exeter. Were the Sarries resting Lamositele for the Champions Cup Final? The Saracens announce the roster on Friday. Check this space.
