Red River
It was anticlimactic in the Red River women's bracket as both ARPTC Blue and ARPTC White did the math and realized they had clinched. They didn't need to play anymore and both are in.
Meanwhile, in the men's bracket there were several permutations that could have seen Dallas, NOLA, or even the Austin Huns take 1st and that lone seed to Kansas City. Dallas saved us all the math and just won the tournament, clinching a seed to the national championship.
Frontier
Three teams are in among the men, with Kansas City beating Park City Haggis in the final of the Heartland 7s, and the Denver Barbarians having enough points to take a seed anyway.
The women's seed was decided last week.
Pacific North
All sorts of weird stuff here. In the men's championship, Life West White, thanks to the powerful running and defense of Cecil Garber and Martini Talapusi, defeated the Washington Athletic Club in the semis. But Westside Ronins exploded in the second half of the final and held on 26-24.
So the Ronins took the #1 seed from Pacific North. Life West, however, had already qualified in the Super Qualifier, so WAC, taking 3rd in the tournament, took the #2 seed.
Among the women, it ended up being the Evan Hoses show. With time essentially up in the final between Berkeley and Life West, Hoese faked out everyone on a tap penalty move to score under the posts for a 17-12 Berkeley lead.
Life West did have time, and Neariah Persinger blazed down the sideline and around under the posts to tie the game. She had a chance to win it with a conversion in front of the posts, but missed.
So on to overtime, and there Hoses blasted through for an early try, and then iced it late for a 29-17 Berkeley All Blues win.
Life West took 2nd and Washington Athletic Club took 3rd, and all three will go to San Diego.
