The Saint Mary's Gaels will host the Cal Poly Mustangs on Saturday in Moraga, CA with an intent to maintain the strong form they've begun the year with. 

Aside from an early-season tussle with the North American Rugby Academy, the Gaels have hardly been tested this season. They've obliterated Santa Clara, UC Davis, and Trinity Western all by scoring margins approaching the 100's, and even managed to comfortably handle Life West, one of the top Men's D1 sides in the country. 

A chunk of the team went on a two-week tour to Japan, but the guys remaining stateside still turned in victories over UCSB and against Stanford.

The Gaels are looking very sharp in 2020, and have a great balance of power and pace, physicality and skill across the pitch. Veterans Payton Telea and Tavite Lopeti have been on fire, while freshmen Karl Keane, Erich Storti, and Miles McCormick have slotted in and already made their presence felt. 

The Gaels are loaded across the entire roster, and their depth could prove vital as they move forward through the spring season. The more they can lighten the load on guys like Aaron Mathews, Joe Marchant, and Ronan Murphy as the season progresses, the fresher and deeper they'll be come playoff time. 

The Mustangs are coming off two straight defeats, the first a nail-biting 13-10 loss to Grand Canyon, the second a brutal 65-7 thrashing at the hands of UCLA. 

They'll be really up against it this weekend at Saint Mary's, but surely they'll come out looking to prove last week's game was just a fluke.
